Nature's Way Coconut Oil

I have been using this oil for quite a while now. It smells like coconut flakes or coconut milk. The scent is very delicate and not too overpowering. The oil is solid in rooms temperature but when you warm it up in your hands it gets liquid.

I have been using it mainly as a hair mask and body lotion. I have been reading a lot of the benefits of coconut oil. For hair, it restores damaged protein so it promotes regrowth and strengthens hair. Coconut oil contains Vitamin E (an essential nutrient for skin and hair), lauric acid and capric acid. These chemicals all help to promote protein regrowth in the hair, by penetrating deep into each hair, making it stronger. In contrast to chemical conditioners which provide a mirage of health, coconut oil actually nourishes your hair.

I usually put one or two table spoons in my hair (it's not very thick) and massage with my scalp with it, as well as the ends. I'll wait for an hour (If you have a thick hair you can wait longer, even a night) and then wash it with shampoo. I immediately noticed how soft and silky it made my hair.

Coconut oil is especially good during the winter time because it prevents frizz. Oil and water do not mix so the coconut oil on the hair prevents moisture from entering the hair shaft to create frizz.

I spent a  long time comparing different options on iHerb and I noticed that Cococare offers the cheapest option. I read some reviews of it and noticed that some reviewers didn't think it really was pure because it isn't suitable for consuming. Plus, it didn't have any smell. The price was great but I really wanted to try something REAL. So I bought the Nature's Way Coconut Oil and it didn't disappoint me. :)

In addition, coconut oil can be used for oil-pulling, swishing a tablespoon or two of the oil in your mouth for 20 minutes for better oral health. The vitamin E the oil contains is an antibacterial and antifungial agent, so it is good for the teeth.
